It remains to be seen how business pressures by stockholders will be acceptant of maintaining two separate companies if dividends do not reflect a favorable profit situation. There eventually could be conflict between Alaska with the culture of “island time” at Hawaiian and a different business philosophy at Alaska. Branding may be a big part of the decision to keep two separate airlines but in the end, it boils down to expenses and profit. If one or the other becomes a drain on the partnership, we could see the dissolving of one of the liveries.
